This access from the north and easterly side of the property provides excellent access for repeated low impact hunting. Here too, just before the food plot, the trail leading northwest to the most remote and unique features of the property converges. Multiple trails continue south to the picturesque train route through Northern Hardwoods comprised of maples, oaks, and the occasional softwood. The wide logging road and old landing site south of the tracks would make an ideal food plot location with the large rubs just inside their edge betraying the habits of the bucks that bed here tracks to their back as they pass the day before browsing out for a snack in not to distant agricultural fields. As you turn north steps start to cover vast ecological space as the hardwoods transition into black ash forests with their diverse grassy and shrubby understory hiding grouse and woodcock, young tamaracks whose stunning fall yellow needles slow your pace, and mattress like peat bogs interlaced with idyllic black spruce transport you through a fairy tale like world. These deep woods transitions, where deer trails become game trails and images of animals nose to tail in winter?s depths are in-escapable, is where you are likely to encounter one of the forests? beast or their tracks. As you near the most northerly and westerly reaches these black spruce shorten and the property opens with an understory of laurel, leatherleaf, and bog cranberry thriving. Here in the most boreal reaches of WI?s tension zones the bears and birds quietly feast on nature?s bounty and one will only ever be able to envy their solitude.
